Construction Cases:

Jeff Peraldo represented the estate of a young man killed in a trench collapse accident. The man was survived by several children. The case investigation showed the trenching contractor had failed to follow mandatory safety guidelines and use mandatory safety equipment for the size and depth of the trench in which the decedent had been ordered to work. The contractor denied liability and litigation was necessary. After extensive discovery and case investigation, the case settled at mediation for the amount of $645,000.

Jeff Peraldo represented an electrical worker who sustained severe burns over most of his body when he began work in a "hot" electrical switchgear box. The worker had been led to believe the power to the box had been turned off prior to his arrival at the workplace when, in fact, the box was still "hot." The case investigation showed that the owners of the box, or others responsible for the box, had failed to update a schematic diagram that showed the electrical wiring to the box. Had the diagram been updated, the worker would have known about the "hot" wiring in the box. The owner denied liability and litigation was necessary. The case settled prior to trial for a confidential amount.

Jeff Peraldo represented the estate of a billboard worker killed when a billboard on which he was working collapsed. The case investigation showed the collapse was caused by acids from bird droppings that over time corroded certain heavy duty steel bolts that held sections of the billboard together. The owner denied liability and litigation was necessary. The case investigation and discovery showed the owner of the billboard likely should have known about the corrosion caused by bird droppings and that the owners had been put on notice that the billboard in question was probably dangerous immediately prior to the worker's death. The case settled for a confidential amount.

Jeff Peraldo represented a worker who sustained pelvic fractures and other serious injuries in a trench collapse accident. The case investigation showed that the trenching contractor had failed to follow mandatory safety guidelines and use mandatory safety equipment for the size and depth of the trench in which the worker had been ordered to work. Both the contractor and the project owner denied liability and litigation was necessary. After extensive discovery and case investigation, the case was settled for a confidential amount.
